President Donald Trump stated that he does not care if the peace negotiations with Iran come to an end.

“I don’t care if they’re over, honestly,” Trump told CNBC’s Eamon Javers in a new interview.

“I really don’t care,” he added. “I couldn’t care less.”

“If they’re over, they’re over,” the president stated. “If they’re not, you know, I think they took too much time. Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring.

“They were giving us what we needed, but I think I think they handled the negotiations poorly,” he claimed. “It took too long. I thought they were tapping us along that’s all. Yeah, they were.”

“You think they were stalling for time,” Javers asked him

“Yeah, I thought that,” Trump admitted.

The comments come as Congress is moving closer to cutting off the president’s authority to wage the war.

The president had been asked about the possibility of Iran ending talks with the United States after reporting earlier Monday that Iranian negotiators would do so, and also move to “completely block” the Strait of Hormuz, because of Israel’s military operations in Lebanon against the Iran-backed militia known as Hezbollah.

“It seems to be, they’re saying that they’re not going to negotiate until Israel stops attacking in Lebanon,” Javers told the president.

When the CNBC reporter asked Trump whether the Iranians told him they were not going to negotiate any longer, the president stated that “they haven’t.”

The president said during the interview that he was “going to ask Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu what’s going on with Lebanon.”

“So how do you bring this to an end now if negotiations are not happening and the ceasefire is in place?” Javers asked. “Is it time to end the ceasefire?”

“Well, we will see,” the president shared. “Let’s say, I knew exactly what, you know, what you’re asking to do now, and I sort of do. Why would I tell you?”
