President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on social media that featured him throwing former late-night host Stephen Colbert into a dumpster.

In the video Trump posted on Truth Social, Colbert is onstage during the taping of the last episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which aired last Thursday night. Trump then walked up behind the comedian, grabbed him by his shoulders and tossed him into a dumpster placed onstage. The president closes the lid to the dumpster and began dancing to the Village People’s “YMCA.”

Trump also posted this video on his X account, and the official White House account shared it as well. They even included the caption, “Bye-bye.”

On Friday, he celebrated the end of Colbert’s show in another Truth Social post.

“Colbert is finally finished at CBS,” Trump stated on his platform on Friday. “Amazing that he lasted so long!”

“No talent, no ratings, no life,” the president added. “He was like a dead person. You could take any person off the street, and they would be better than this total jerk. Thank goodness he’s finally gone!”

On July 18, 2025, CBS initially announced the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, saying that their decision was primarily financial.

Colbert discussed the cancellation three days later and thanked his friends and production team for their work.

He also joked that the network made “one key mistake, they left me alive.”

Many people have speculated that Trump influenced the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert because of Colbert’s frequent criticisms of him.

In a Truth Social post uploaded in December 2025, Trump called Colbert a “pathetic trainwreck” lacking talent or “anything else necessary for show business success.”

He slammed the comedian for “running on hatred and fumes,” labeling him as a “dead man walking.”

Trump ended his post by calling for CBS to “put [Colbert] to sleep,” saying that it is the “humanitarian thing to do.”
