President Donald Trump calls for a MAGA rally instead of the concerts planned for America’s 250th anniversary celebration, after numerous artists canceled their appearances at the event upon discovering it would be overtly political.
Trump suggested replacing the concerts with a political rally on his Truth Social, “We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain,” he wrote in the post
The concerts were originally supposed to be part of the country’s major celebrations, which are expected to take place around the National Mall.
The cancellations from artists listed as part of the lineup include Poison’s Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day and The Time, The Commodores and Martina McBride.
The Freedom 250 concerts are part of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day event scheduled to take place on the National Mall from June 25 through July 10 to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. The event has been described by organizers as a nonpartisan celebration of the country.
There is no official confirmation if the concert portion of the event celebrations will be canceled or replaced.
