On 20 May, as part of EU Diversity Month 2026, the Ambassadors for #DiversityInTransport Network hosted the webinar “Inclusive transport for all: gender, migration and intersectionality in mobility”.
As part of EU Diversity Month 2026, the Ambassadors for #DiversityInTransport Network organized the webinar “Inclusive transport for all: gender, migration and intersectionality in mobility”, bringing together perspectives from research, public transport, urban mobility practice and international organizations. The discussion explored how gender, migration background and intersectionality shape mobility experiences, access to transport services and participation in the transport workforce.
Key themes included:
- the importance of moving beyond “one-size-fits-all” approaches in transport planning;
- how lived experiences, safety, affordability and accessibility influence mobility choices;
- barriers faced by women, migrants and underrepresented groups in transport professions and leadership;
- the role of intersectionality in understanding overlapping inequalities in everyday mobility; and
- the importance of inclusive planning, better data and user-centred transport policies.
The webinar also highlighted practical examples and initiatives from across Europe that are helping create more equitable and accessible transport systems.
